Overview
The Kerala Engineering, Architecture & Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM) is conducted by the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) for admission to various professional degree courses in the State of Kerala.

Exam Pattern
- The exam will be an online Computer-Based Test with a duration of 3 hours.
- There will be 3 subject sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), meaning each question will have five choices, with only one correct answer.
- Each correct answer will earn 4 marks, while each incorrect answer will incur a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark).

Eligibility
Overview
- The candidate must be a citizen of India to be eligible.
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the purpose of admission.
- PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
- Candidates will be categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I), and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).
Keralite
- Candidates of Kerala origin will be categorized as Keralite. To prove Kerala origin, a candidate must provide a certificate showing that either the candidate, their father, or mother was born in Kerala.
- Candidates whose parents are All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to the Kerala cadre also fall under this category. However, they will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)
NK I candidates will be considered for State Merit seats but will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but fulfills any one of the following conditions will be categorized as a Non-Keralite Category I:
- Studied 10+2 in Kerala, and whose parents are Non-Keralites belonging to the Government of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala.
- Studied 10+2 in Kerala, and whose parents are Non-Keralites serving/served in the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years.
- Has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of 5 years within the 12 years of study.
- Studied in Kerala from Class VIII to XII.
Non-Keralite Category-II (NK II)
- Candidates who do not fall under Keralite or Non-Keralite Category I will be categorized as Non-Keralite Category II.
- NK II candidates are eligible for admission to Government seats and Management Quota seats in Engineering courses at Government-controlled Self-financing Colleges. However, NK II candidates will only be considered for admission to Government seats in Government-controlled Self-financing Engineering Colleges when Keralite and Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) candidates are unavailable.
- NK II candidates are also eligible for admission to Government seats and Management Quota seats in Private Self-financing Engineering/Architecture Colleges.
Academic Eligibility
Eligibility for Engineering courses
- The candidate should have passed the HSC exam of Kerala or an equivalent exam from a recognized board, with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry combined. SC/ST/SEBC/PwD candidates will receive a 5% relaxation.
- If the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science will be considered. If the candidate has not studied Chemistry or Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology will be considered. If the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science, or Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology will be considered.
Eligibility for Architecture courses
- Refer to the NATA B.Arch. admission eligibility rules.
- Candidates are advised to qualify in NATA before July 31, 2025.
Age
- Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on December 31, 2025.
- No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.
- There is no upper age limit.

Answer Keys
- The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will publish the Answer Keys of the Engineering Entrance Examination on the CEE website.
- Candidates can submit complaints regarding questions or answer keys through the Candidate Portal within 3 days of publication, along with a fee of ₹200 per question, paid online.
- Complaints received late or without the requisite fee will not be considered. If found genuine, the fee will be refunded.
- All complaints will be reviewed by subject expert committees constituted by the CEE, and their decision will be final.
Result / Rank List
Rank list for Engineering courses
- Only candidates who score a minimum normalized score of 10 in the Engineering Entrance Examination will be included in the rank list. SC/ST candidates are exempt from this criterion.
- Equal weightage of 50:50 will be given to the normalized score obtained in the Entrance Examination for Engineering, and the grade/marks obtained in the final year of the qualifying examination for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry combined, after applying the standardization procedure.
- If the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology will be considered. If the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science, or Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology will be considered.
- The final year marks of the qualifying examination for each subject (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology) will be transformed out of 100. The marks of the three subjects will be computed out of 300 after standardization.
- The normalized score obtained by the candidate in the Engineering Entrance Examination will be computed out of 300 and added to the total standardized marks of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology (as applicable) from the final year of the qualifying examination, computed out of 300, both corrected to four decimal places. The rank list for Engineering Courses will be prepared based on the total marks obtained out of an index mark of 600.
Rank list for Architecture courses
- The rank list for admission to the B. Arch course will be prepared by giving equal weightage to the score obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and to the marks/grades obtained in the qualifying examination.
- The marks obtained by the candidate in NATA (out of 200) will be added to the total marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination (computed out of 200). The rank list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained out of 400.
Admission Procedure
- Admission will be purely based on merit as per the rank list.
- The list of institutions with intake in each discipline and category will be available on the KEAM website after the result declaration.
Important Information
- Candidates are not required to send the printout of the confirmation page or any other documents to the office of the CEE.
- Candidates should bring the Admit Card, a Photo ID proof, and a transparent ballpoint pen to the examination.
- Candidates will not be permitted to bring items such as pencils, erasers, correction fluid, calculators, logarithm tables, electronic gadgets, mobile phones, etc., into the examination hall.
- Paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination hall and must be returned to the Invigilator at the end of the examination.
